The Narva Castle is located on the left-hand bank of the Narva River, opposite the Ivangorod Castle on the other side of the river. The border between Estonia and Russia runs along the Narva River. Since 2004, Estonia is a member of the European Union, which means that the city of Narva is the most eastern and also the largest city on the border between the European Union and Russia. The distance from Narva to Tallinn is 210 kilometres and to St. Petersburg 140 kilometres.
