“Subbotnik” organised during European Cooperation Day
Teachers and pupils of Narva Soldina Gymnasium and Ivangorod secondary school No.2, students of State Institute of Aerospace Instrumentation, representatives from Ivangorod Art School, City Council and Administration of Ivangorod, Ivangorod museum staff and active young people productively worked in Big Bojarshi town of Ivangorod fortress.
Subbotnik took place on 24 September 2014 in framework of a large scale project „Development of the unique Narva-Ivangorod fortresses ensemble as a single cultural and tourist object”. The event was dedicated to European Cooperation Day, which is annually celebrated in Europe on 21 September since 2012 (www.ecday.eu).
Participants picked up trash and stones, levelled ground and prepared the area for lawn. In the end of works Tree of cooperation like symbol of the two cities cooperation was planted in front of the Museum of Defense Architecture. After the work a surprise for all participants was prepared: tea and very tasty cakes and a small music performance by author-singer from Kingisepp city Galina Yarochenko. As a gratitude for the work all participants got badges “Museum friend”, which give opportunity to visit Ivangorod fortress – one of the most interest historical objects of architecture in our region free of charge.
Narva and Ivangorod are border towns, which actively cooperate in implementing of mutual infrastructure and tourism development projects as well as projects aiming at preserving cultural and historical heritage of both cities. The overall objective of the project „Development of the unique Narva-Ivangorod fortresses ensemble as a single cultural and tourist object” is the development of Narva-Ivangorod cross-border region tourism infrastructure through reconstruction of fortresses ensemble and improvement accessibility of tourism information
Project is financed by Estonia-Latvia-Russia cross-border cooperation Programme within European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument (ENPI) 2007-2013. Estonia – Latvia – Russia Cross Border Cooperation Programme within the European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument 2007-2013 financially supports joint cross border development activities for the improvement of the region’s competitiveness by utilising its potential and beneficial location on the crossroads between the EU and Russian Federation. The Programme web-site is www.estlatrus.eu Total budget of the project is about 6,9 million EUR. Programme co-financing is about 6,2 million EUR including co-financing from the State Budget of Estonia about 1,8 million EUR.
