Project main activities are concentrated on restoration of Victoria bastion and Powder Cellar in Narva and reconstruction of the Small Powder Granary and conservation of the quadrangular fortress of 1492 in Ivangorod. Department for City Development and Economy is implementing project together with a partner from Russia –Leningradskaya Oblast State Budget Institution of Culture „Museum Agency”
43 representatives from partner organisation and Steering group including Narva Mayor Tarmo Tammiste and Narva City Council Chairman Aleksandr Jefimov, Steering group members: general director of Estonian National Heritage Board Kalev Uustalu and vice chairman of Committee for Culture of Leningrad Oblast Andrey Ermakov took part in the meeting.
Participants of the meeting discussed the achieved project results so far. Reconstruction works on two walls of bastion Victoria are already finished, drainage works are in the final stage. Powder cellar is excavated, its strengthening and water proofing works have begun. In Ivangorod clearing of Small Powder Granary is being implemented. Construction and restoration works should be completed by the end of summer 2014. Construction companies E & G OÜ/AS Pärnu REV implement Victoria bastion reconstruction; total budget of the construction works is more than 2,9 mln. EUR. Construction company “Stroitelnaya kultura” implements construction works in Ivangorod fortress; total budget of the construction works is about 95 mln. RUB or 2.54 mln. EUR.
During the meeting representatives of construction companies presented information about methods and principles of restoration as well as work experience of their companies as regards heritage objects. At the end of the day participants visited the bastion Victoria construction site, got acquainted with reconstruction works, visited cleared bastion casemates.
Large Scale Project „Development of the unique Narva-Ivangorod fortresses ensemble as a single cultural and tourist object” is financed by Estonia-Latvia-Russia cross-border cooperation Programme within European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument (ENPI) 2007-2013. Total budget of the project is 6,9 mln. EUR. Programme co-financing is 6,2 mln. EUR including co-financing from the State Budget of Estonia 1,8 mln. EUR.
